On March 1, 2004, Community Health Services (CHS) of Cumberland County and Visiting Nurse Service (VNS) of York County merged to create HomeHealth — Visiting Nurses of Southern Maine (HomeHealth — VNSM), the largest provider of home health care in Southern Maine. We are proud to bring the best together in partnership with the MaineHealth family to meet the growing home health needs of our community. Membership with MaineHealth provides us with many opportunities to both influence and to improve the quality of health care through participation in clinical initiatives and strategic planning with other healthcare providers and system members.
Our organization is fully licensed by the state of Maine and is accredited by the Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP) of the National League for Nursing.
We provide care for patients covered by Medicare, MaineCare and other third-party payers. Financial assistance is available for those without insurance or resources. Our services are offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout our service area.
Services to our Community During fiscal year 2009 (October 1, 2008 - September 30, 2009) HomeHealth Visiting Nurses provided:
